Charity helped by Priory

The Charity in the Autumn of 2009 was at a crossroads. It was evident that help was needed, and we were fortunate to be recommended by Charity Days to Priory Consulting. In business situations, most CEO’s reckon to have a good grasp of the essentials and can spot trends and the way forward. However, what was outstanding in David Gaines’ report was his ability to analyze, outline current and future scenarios in a succinct, logical and comprehensive format. In our case, the SWOT analysis showed some quite big gaps. The succession issue, which in our case was difficult, was potentially sorted. There is no doubt that the Charity has been pointed in the right direction. This would not have happened without David Gaines, and his excellent team.

David Gaines made several visits – this resulted in a report – and then there was another visit to brief the Trustees.

The Charity unequivocally recommends David Gaines and Priory Consulting.”

Funding for Training

There is no better time to invest in training and the Government can help with funding. If you have 5 or more employees, there may be funding available for management and leadership training. Currently business owners, MDs and CEOs etc can apply for a grant of £500 for their own personal development. An additional £500 (which must be match funded) is available for other managers.  This is an offer that really can't be overlooked so speak to us now about how you can apply.

Physchometric and Behavioural Mode Assessment

We are delighted to announce that we have received accreditation from MiRo Phychometrics to run MiRo tests which assess behavioural modes of Driver, Energiser, Organiser, Analyser. These modes are based on William Moulton Marston's ideas into human behaviour and linked to Carl Jung's personalityb types. There is also a correlation to Myers-Briggs types.

MiRo can be used for self development, team building, recruitment and many more practical applications. For more details of the assessment click here

What to watch out for in 2010

2010 is likely to be an interesting time for business. There are a number of legal changes which could have an impact on organisations including increases in paternity leave and pay, the right to time off for training, and changes to ‘sick notes’

Paternity Leave

From April 2010, fathers will be able to benefit from any untaken maternity leave and pay. What this means in simple terms is that if a mother returns to work before the end of her maternity leave period, the father can pick up the balance. This leave will be paid if taken during the mothers statutory maternity leave period.

Time Off for Training

Due in April and initially applicable to larger organisations, this initiative mirrors closely the procedure in place to request flexible working. A member of staff will be required to make a case to support the application. Employers will not be obliged to meet the request if there are sound business reasons for not doing so. This initiative is expected to apply to all organisations from 2011.

 Sickness Certification

Expected from April, there will be a change of format to the Med 3 medical certificate. Doctors will be able to offer an opinion as to whether a patient is fit to undertake some work now. This will be useful in cases where employers are wishing to encourage an ‘unfit’ employee back to work.
